- Visual Studio can be installed on Windows operating systems only. If you are running virtualization software such as Parallels or VMWare, you can run Windows in your mac and install Visual Studio on that just fine. Another option is that you can install Visual Studio Code, which is a lighter weight, cross-platform code editor, on OSX.
